ALASKA BALD EAGLES
Haines, Alaska
Every late fall, a massive salmon run draws over 3,000 bald eagles to the Chilkat River in Haines, Alaska, creating the largest gathering of these magnificent birds in the world. This bucket-list wildlife workshop begins at Juneau Ferry Terminal, transferring you directly into the heart of the action. With short daily drives to the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve, you will photograph dramatic territorial battles, close-up portraits, and breathtaking action shots against snow-capped peaks. Evenings are dedicated to guided image reviews and advanced editing techniques to help you refine your skills and create gallery-worthy prints.








Arrival & Departure
- Arrive to Juneau, Alaska on November 12 or 13th
- You are responsible for lodging in Juneau
- November 14th early morning, I will pick everyone from the hotel and drive to ferry terminal departing to Haines
- We leave Haines on November 19th in afternoon and arrive to Juneau late night
- You’re responsible for lodging for that night, OR you have the option of sleeping in airport. They have nice long comfy sofas to rest, it’s free and safe.
You will provide your own:
- Roundtrip ferry tickets Juneau + Haines
- Food / Alcoholic beverages
- Travel insurance is recommended if something urgent happens and you need to cancel last minute
- Flights
- Lodging in Juneau, Alaska

Recommended camera gear:
- 1 or 2 camera bodies (full frame recommended)
- Lenses ranging from wide angle 16-35mm to 70-200mm for landscape photos, Telephoto lens – 100-500 Or 200-600 Or a prime lens 600mm f4! Note you can rent a 600mm f4 from any online camera rental store. You don’t need to spend $15,000
- Sturdy Tripod
- Laptop for editing + critique (optional)
- Wide angle lens that has an aperture of 2.8 or lower in case we get to see the northern lights at night (weather permits). 16-35mm or 14mm prime or similar will work, Mirrorless or DSLR camera,
- 4-6 batteries.

Do not push your physical abilities past what you are healthy enough to do. You are in charge of deciding if a location is safe for you to travel to.
Travel insurance as well as insurance for your photo gear are both highly recommended. Marc Bouldoukian of Marc Bouldoukian Photography’s role in this workshop is to teach photography in Alaska and guide you to great locations.
You are responsible for your safety as you travel. Marc Bouldoukian of Marc Bouldoukian Photography makes no effort to vet the other attendees of the trip and you need to make sure you are safe in their companionship. In the event of extraordinary events, governmental instability, extreme weather, pandemic, or other condition, Marc Bouldoukian reserves the right to reschedule or cancel this trip and either return all workshop fees or apply paid fees toward a future workshop.
