ULTIMATE YELLOWSTONE WINTER PHOTO EXPEDITION

Winter in Yellowstone National Park offers a more intimate and immersive experience, showcasing captivating snow-covered landscapes and frost laden wildlife. The geyser basins take on a truly magical quality in the cold, creating unique and dramatic scenes for photographers.
Join me as I co-host this experience in partnership with Yellowstone Wildlife Company for an unforgettable winter photography expedition in the extreme conditions of Yellowstone. With fewer visitors during the season, the park provides a rare opportunity to photograph frosty bison, coyotes, red foxes, wolves, elk, bighorn sheep, and other wildlife set against a pristine, snow covered backdrop making it ideal for both landscape and wildlife photography.
Itinerary:
- Arrive in Bozeman February 19 – 2027
- Pre-night hotel in Bozeman February 19-20 (not included in price)
- Pick up everyone on February 20 morning and drive to Gardiner to start the workshop
- Check-in to our hotel on February 20 in Gardiner, then go take some pictures of wildlife
- We will be rotating 1 day northern range and 1 day snow coach in the next coming days to maximize our chances for wildlife.
- February 25 we drive back to Bozeman, Workshop ends. You can either fly back home that afternoon or the next morning.
You will provide your own:
- Pre-night hotel in Bozeman, Montana (February 19-20)
- Dinner in Gardiner Restaurant
- Gratuity for local guide & snowcoach driver, $100/day (We will split it so $25 per person)
- Travel or Health Insurance
Recommended camera gear:
- Full-frame camera
- Telephoto lens 100-500mm OR 200-600mm OR 600mm prime F4. If you don’t own any good ones you can rent online or any camera store
- Sturdy tripod
- Wide angle lens 16-35mm OR 24-105mm OR mid-range 70-200mm
- 3-5 batteries
- Extra memory cards
- External hard drive to backup images each day, wifi might be slow in hotel for cloud storage

What is the weather like in winter?
Winter weather in Yellowstone can take unexpected turns. But temperatures typically range from zero to 20°F during the day and often drop to sub-zero at night. Factor in the wind chill and nighttime in the park can indeed be brutal. Record lows of minus 66°F have occurred!
Included in the fee:
– 5 nights hotels in Gardiner, Montana
– 4 ½ days photography in the park
– 2 days 10hr charter snowcoach days w/ local guide
– Hot drinks/ breakfast/ snacks on all tour/coach days
– Bozeman to Gardiner transportation & return
– Post processing and how to dial your camera settings to capture sharp and well exposed images.

Do not push your physical abilities past what you are healthy enough to do. You are in charge of deciding if a location is safe for you to travel to.
Travel insurance as well as insurance for your photo gear are both highly recommended. Marc Bouldoukian of Marc Bouldoukian Photography’s role in this workshop is to teach photography and guide you to great locations.
