Master the Night Sky
My Alabama Hills Astrophotography Workshop offers a hands-on, immersive experience designed to elevate your night photography skills. Nestled beneath the jagged peaks of the Eastern Sierra, you will learn how to capture the Milky Way framing spectacular natural arches and unique monolithic rock formations.
Whether you are a beginner picking up a camera or an experienced shooter looking to master dark-sky landscapes, this workshop provides the tools, community, and scenery to create breathtaking celestial art. Space is strictly limited to ensure an intimate learning environment.
Itinerary:
- Sunday: sunset + milky way at night
- Monday: sunset + milky way at night
- Tuesday: sunrise then workshop ends
What to wear:
For travel in the Eastern Sierras, I recommend comfortable, casual clothing. Essentials include sneakers, shorts, long and short-sleeve lightweight shirts, a wide-brimmed hat, long pants, and a wind-breaker or light jacket for evenings. Be sure to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, Because we are in the desert, and sun rays are direct, I strongly recommend sun block with SPF30 or higher. Most walking will be over rocky, uneven surfaces. Therefore tennis shoes, sneakers or walking shoes with rubber soles are highly recommended.
Recommended camera gear:
- Camera body (full-frame)
- 24-105mm or similar lens for mid range, 16-35mm f2.8 or similar or prime 14mm f1.8 to achieve best results
- Sturdy tripod
- 2-3 batteries

How to get there and where to meet:
- Closest airports: Las Vegas/ Mammoth Lakes/ Fresno
- We will meet at Dow Villa AAA Hotel, 310 S Main St, Lone Pine CA
- I also recommend booking your stay there, feel free to book other hotel but make sure it’s in Lone Pine.
- Approximate time to meet on August 01 anytime between 2:00pm and 4:00pm the latest.
